After fiddling with the generator assembly, I got to fire the beast up. The outcome was a rousing success. The generator fired up without much hesitation. Transfer of power to the house from the generator also worked as planned. Now all that&#8217;s left is getting a larger fuel supply&#8230;and waiting for the power to die&#8230;</p>

After putting it off for awhile, I finally got the generator transfer switch fully installed over the weekend. This means that we are ready for power loss &#8230; once we actually get the portable generator. The transfer switch will allow a generator to feed a subset of our home&#8217;s electrical circuits should PG&amp;E fail to deliver power (for whatever reason).</p>
