Wood work progress on the outdoor bar

I was able to get the front wood paneling and some of the back side paneling done on Saturday. Sadly it rained here on Sunday so I wasn’t able to finish up. So far its coming out like we had hoped it would.

Tile work finished on the outdoor bar

We finished up the tile work on the bar this past weekend. The grouting was a bit tedious with the slate tile as it wanted to get into every irregularity on the tiles. Overall we’re pretty pleased with the tile. In addition to the tile, we also moved the bar into its final place and finished up the electrical work. All that remains is all the wood work on the sides and trim.

Finished setting tile on the bar

We finished up setting tile on the bar this weekend. It was a long tedious process because of all the cuts that had to go into the pattern for the top of the bar. Still have to do all the grouting next weekend, plus all the wood panel work and trim and electrical and….

Started the tiling today on the bar. Didn’t get very far, but so far so good on the design.

I’m working on a back patio bar for the house. Planning to tile the top to match our firepit (slate tile). Planning a few cool lighting effects as well. Fun project so far, more cool stuff to come.

New Tent… Camping time?

We got a tent. Guess we should actually go camping one of these days. It sleeps seven with a screened in room off of one side.

Now more ready than ever?

Finally got the new generator and the monsterous cable necessary to connect it to the transfer switch. After fiddling with the generator assembly, I got to fire the beast up. The outcome was a rousing success. The generator fired up without much hesitation. Transfer of power to the house from the generator also worked as planned. Now all that’s left is getting a larger fuel supply…and waiting for the power to die…

Ready for an earthquake?

Maybe not entirely, but we are ready to hookup to a generator should we lose power. After putting it off for awhile, I finally got the generator transfer switch fully installed over the weekend. This means that we are ready for power loss … once we actually get the portable generator. The transfer switch will allow a generator to feed a subset of our home’s electrical circuits should PG&E fail to deliver power (for whatever reason).
